PausedCost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA) set at $978,EFFECTIVE AUG 26, 2023 Effective August 26, 2023 (Pay Period 19-2023), all career Mail Handler craft employees received a cost-of-living (COLA) adjustment as outlined in Article 9.3 of the 2022 National Agreement. This is the second of six possible COLA increases under the terms of the current agreement. This COLA increase is based on the upward change in the relevant Consumer Price Index (CPI) following the release of the July 2023 Index, using the July 2022 CPI index as a base. The resulting calculation provides an annual increase of $978 for all Steps in Table 1 and for Step P of Table 2. The remaining Steps in Table 2 will receive the proportional COLA increase percentages as outlined in Article 9.3 of the National Agreement.

MAIL HANDLERS RATIFY 2022 NATIONAL AGREEMENT
The terms of the 2022 National Agreement between the NPMHU and the U.S. Postal Service were officially ratified on March 13, 2023. The certified results show that over 84% of the membership approved the new contract, with the final vote tally at 6,617 in favor of ratification and 1,237 in opposition to ratification.
Further details about the implementation of the 2022 National Agreement will be provided to Local Union officers and representatives in the coming weeks. All members are encouraged to retain and utilize their copy of the ratification booklet until National Agreements are printed and distributed.
Urge your Representatives and Senators to Support the USPS Shipping Equity Act
The National Postal Mail Handlers Union is joining with the Distilled Spirits Council,APWU, NALC, and Brewers and Distillers to request members of Congress to cosponsor the USPS Shipping Equity Act, H.R. 3287/S. 1663. As this legislation overturns Prohibition Era regulations, the USPS will be able to meet the demands of customers to ship directly from producers and will generate $190 million annually for the Postal Service.
